Qualifiers and Finals

We typically hold the majority of our qualifiers on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Saturday Monthly Medals

The Saturday Monthly Medals comprises eleven stroke play qualifiers over both courses. Eleven outright net winners, regardless of division, are put forward to compete in the Saturday Monthly Medal final, typically held in September. In even-numbered years, the final will be held on Troon Darley. In odd-numbered years, the final will be held on Troon Lochgreen. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by the best net score in the final. The Peter McAdam Trophy will be presented to the winner of the Saturday Monthly Medals at our annual prize-giving event.

Sunday Monthly Medals

The Sunday Monthly Medals comprises eleven stroke play qualifiers over both courses. Eleven outright net winners, regardless of division, are put forward to compete in the Sunday Monthly Medal final, typically held in September. In even-numbered years, the final will be held on Troon Darley. In odd-numbered years, the final will be held on Troon Lochgreen. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by the best net score in the final. The David Hay Cup will be presented to the winner of the Sunday Monthly medals at our annual prize-giving event.

David Finch Memorial Medal

The David Finch Monthly Medal comprises eleven stroke play qualifiers over both courses. Eleven outright net winners, regardless of division, are put forward to compete in the final, typically held in September. In even-numbered years, the final will be held on Troon Darley. In odd-numbered years, the final will be held on Troon Lochgreen. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by the best net score in the final and the The David Finch Memorial Trophy will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Lochgreen Bowl

The Lochgreen Bowl comprises eleven stroke play qualifiers held on Saturdays, culminating in a final event scheduled for September. All the qualifiers and the final itself are conducted exclusively on the Troon Lochgreen. Golfers from each division who emerge as winners, or share the best net score, in the qualifiers will secure their place in the final. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by the best net score in the final and the Lochgreen Bowl trophy will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Victory Cup

The Victory Cup comprises eleven stroke play qualifiers held on Saturdays, culminating in a final event scheduled for September. All the qualifiers and the final itself are conducted exclusively on the Troon Darley. Golfers from each division who emerge as winners, or share the best net score, in the qualifiers will secure their place in the final. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by the best net score in the final and the Victory Cup will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Keltie/Anderson Memorial

The Keltie/Anderson comprises eleven stroke play qualifiers held on Sunday’s, culminating in a final event scheduled for August. In even-numbered years, the finals will be held at Troon Lochgreen. In odd-numbered years, the finals will be held at Troon Darley. Golfers from each division who emerge as winners, or share the best net score, in the qualifiers will secure their place in the final. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by the best net score in the final and the Anderson & Keltie Trophy will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

G. Shannon Memorial

The G. Shannon stroke play qualifiers take place on Sundays throughout the year, alternating between the two courses culminating in the finals scheduled for September. In even-numbered years, the finals are held at Troon Lochgreen, while in odd-numbered years, the finals are held at Troon Darley. Golfers from each division who emerge as winners, or share the best net score, in the qualifiers will secure their place in the final. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by the best net score in the final and the G. Shannon Memorial Trophy will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

J.B. Stevenson Memorial

The J.B. Stevenson stroke play qualifiers take place every Wednesday between April and August with the final being played in August. Golfers from each division who emerge as winners, or share the best net score, in the qualifiers will secure their place in the final. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by the best net score in the final and the J.B. Stevenson Trophy will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

D.G. Baxter Memorial

The D.G. Baxter is a two-round stroke play competition held in June, with the first round held on Troon Lochgreen and the second round on Troon Darley, played off the Yellow Tees. The winner is determined by the best aggregate net score, and the D.G. Baxter Quaich will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Spring Meeting

The Spring Meeting is an annual stroke play competition held on the last available Saturday at Troon Lochgreen. It is one of three tournaments (Spring, Summer, and Autumn), and the golfer with the lowest aggregate score across all three events will receive the Season's Cup. The Season's Cup will be presented to the winner during our annual prize giving ceremony.

Summer Meeting

The Summer Meeting is an annual stroke play competition held on a Saturday at the start of August on Troon Darley. Winter Stableford Aggregate

The Winter Aggregate competition comprises six stableford rounds, three held on each course between October and March. The best stableford score from each course will be used to determine the overall aggregate winner of the competition. In the event of a tie, the best Darley score will be used. The Winter Stableford Trophy will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Clark Trophy

The Clark Trophy is a two-round competition that takes place on Wednesdays around June, played over Darley. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by the best net score across both rounds, and the Clark Trophy will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Belhaven Qualifier

The Belhaven qualifier is a stroke play competition and a chance for members to earn a spot in the Belhaven Tournament. The top net score from the event will typically qualify for the tournament, along with the previous year's winner of the Bud Smith Competition (as the Belhaven tournament is a 2-man team competition).

Hagen Driver

The Hagen Driver comprises a single round stroke play qualifier that is held in April on Troon Darley. The top fifteen net scores, along with the title holder, will advance to a seeded knockout matchplay draw, with all rounds played on Troon Darley. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by knockout and the Hagen Driver Trophy will be awarded to the winner at our annual prize-giving event, while the priceless Hagen Driver Club remains on display at the St. Andrews Golf Museum.

Stroke Play Championship

The Strokeplay Championship comprises four stroke play qualifiers, held on each course from June to August. The best two scratch scores from each course will be tallied to determine the top fourteen golfers to play in the final alongside the current holder of the trophy. The Stroke Play Championship Final is held on a Sunday in September. Tee times are allocated based on seeding. In even-numbered years, the finals are held on Troon Lochgreen, whereas in odd-numbered years, the finals are held on Troon Darley. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by the best scratch score in the final. In the event of a draw the winner will be determined by play off. The Stroke Play Championship Trophy will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Club Championship

The Club Championship comprises four stroke play qualifiers, held on each course from June to August. The best two scratch scores from each course will be tallied to determine the top fifteen golfers to play in the final alongside the current holder of the Club Championship trophy. These finalists will advance to a seeded knockout matchplay draw, with all rounds played on Troon Darley. If the qualifiers for the Club Championship are unable to participate in the final, the highest-ranked qualifiers in the Willie Anderson event will be substituted to ensure that there are a sufficient number of participants for the final. A referee will be supplied for the Club Championship final. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by knockout and the Peter Howie Trophy will be awarded to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Willie Anderson

The Willie Anderson comprises four stroke play qualifiers, held on each course from June to August. The best two net scores from each course will be tallied to determine the top fifteen golfers to play in the final alongside the current holder of the trophy. These finalists will advance to a seeded knockout matchplay draw, with all rounds played on Troon Darley. A referee will be supplied for the Willie Anderson final. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by knockout and the Willie Anderson Trophy will be awarded to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Knockout Competitions

Summer Four Ball

The Summer Four Ball is a team knockout competition where teams of two golfers are entered into a draw. The teams are given deadlines to arrange and play matches, and they must submit scores to the club by the specified deadlines. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by knockout and the Jim Pennington Trophy will be awarded to the winners at our annual prize-giving event.

Winter Foursomes

The Winter Foursomes is a team knockout competition where teams of two golfers are entered into a draw. The teams are given deadlines to arrange and play matches, and they must submit scores to the club by the specified deadlines. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by knockout and the Winter Foursomes Trophy will be awarded to the winners at our annual prize-giving event.

Bud Smith

The Bud Smith is a knockout competition where golfers are entered into a draw. Golfers are given deadlines to arrange and play matches, and they must submit scores to the club by the specified deadlines. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by knockout and the Bud Smith Trophy will be awarded to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Seniors Championship

The Seniors Championship is a knockout competition open to golfers over the age of fifty. Golfers are entered into a draw and given deadlines to arrange and play matches. They must submit scores to the club by the specified deadlines. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by knockout and the Seniors Championship Trophy will be awarded to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

One Off Competitions

St Meddans Open

The St Meddans Open is held each year on the first Saturday in August available on Troon Lochgreen. The overall winner of the competition will be decided by the best net score in the final and the Reliance Cup will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

The Jubilee

The Troon Links Jubilee is a Golf South Ayrshire competition, organised by Troon St Meddans, and held over Troon Lochgreen in May. It’s open to golfers who hold a Golf South Ayrshire season ticket and a valid WHS Handicap. The overall winner of the event will be decided by the best net score, and the Burgh of Troon Trophy will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event. The golfer with the best scratch score will be presented with the Adam Wood Trophy at our annual prize-giving event.

Hugh McKibbin Memorial

The Hugh McKibbin Memorial is an annual Ryder Cup-style team match against Troon Welbeck Golf Club. As is customary, the captains of each club would select their teams to compete for the highly coveted Hugh McKibbin Trophy. The trophy will be presented to the winning team during our annual prize-giving event.

G. Moncrieff Memorial

The G. Moncrieff Memorial is a stroke play competition held on the last Saturday available on Troon Darley in October. The winner is determined by the best net score, and the Gordon Moncrieff Trophy will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Darley Clock

The Darley Clock is a one-time stroke play competition held over Troon Darley in May where the winner is determined by the best net score. The prize for the winner is a pocket watch and will be presented during our annual prize-giving event.

Rothesay Match

This annual competition against Rothesay Golf Club is a sixteen man team match alternating each year home and away.

Mattie Wilson Memorial

The Mattie Wilson Memorial is a stroke play competition held on a Saturday at the end of July. This competition is exclusively played on Troon Lochgreen. The winner is determined by the best net score, and the Mattie Wilson Trophy will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Seniors Summer Meeting

The Senior Summer Stroke Play is held each year on the first Monday of August. This competition is for members over the age of fifty. The winner is determined by the best net score, and the Seniors Summer Meeting Trophy will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Centenary Competition

The Centenary Competition is a one off stroke play competition in Summer that celebrates the clubs history. The winner is determined by the best net score, and the Centenary Cup will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event.

Hangover Trophy

The Hangover Trophy is a one off stroke play competition held the day after the annual prize giving ceremony and is open to members who attended. The winner is determined by the best net score, and the Hangover Trophy will be presented to the winner at our annual prize-giving event the following year.

Members & Guests Day

Our Vice Captain organises a special event at the beginning of summer where members can invite a guest to compete in a competition. The format of the competition and prizes will be decided by the Vice Captain.

Captain’s Prize

The Captain's Prize is a competition held as a one-off event. The Captain himself selects the course, competition format and the prizes for this competition.

Vice Captain’s Prize

The Vice Captain's Prize is a competition held as a one-off event. The Vice Captain himself selects the course, competition format and the prizes for this competition.

Captain’s Charity Event

The Captain's Charity Event is a competition held as a one-off event. The Captain himself selects the course, competition format, prizes and the charity we will be raising money for.

Christmas Competition

The Christmas competition is held as a one-off event held on the Saturday before Christmas Day. The format of the competition varies from year to year.
